Cyano Biotech currently develops a transporter for liver-specific agents. Starting from the highly specific hepatotoxic heptapeptide microcystin we are aiming to generate by means of biocombinatorial techniques a non-toxic structural variant that will still be taken up specifically by liver cells. This detoxified compound will then be used for coupling to pharmacologically active substances to combat liver-specific diseases without effecting other organs.
