Cyano Biotech currently develops a blood pressure lowering agent, an inhibitor of the angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE). The non-toxic cyanobacterial compound microginin displays an ACE-inhibitory activity. We are aiming at an optimisation of the ACE inhibitory effects by using biocombinatorial methods to exchange and delete the relevant activities of the microginin synthetase.
