Cultivation, up-scaling and induction
For every strain screened positive in the first assays culture conditions are optimised with respect to natural product formation and yield. Cultures are scaled up to volumes of up to 200 litres. When required the biosynthetic gene clusters are induced by specific growth conditions to further enhance production of the target compounds.
